Have you got a problems to GPRS / GSM / CDMA modem installation? And you will use it to Internet broadband connection or SMS Center. So you can try this way

Plug the USB Modem in

Detect it. See in /var/log/message. Are there usb log detected?

Find the Bus Device
with root mode, please type:lsusb

root@bimosaurus:~# lsusb
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 12d1:1003
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

You can see the different ID, and you has detect it

Load the Module

root@bimosaurus:~#modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x1003
Dont forget to include the hexa what you get from lsusb

Check it from dmesg. If you can see the attach device as ttyUSB0 ttyUSB1, you have success to detect device
root@sms:~# dmesg |tail
usb.c: registered new driver serial
usbserial.c: USB Serial support registered for Generic
usbserial.c: Generic converter detected
usbserial.c: Generic converter now attached to ttyUSB0 (or usb/tts/0 for devfs)
usbserial.c: Generic converter detected
usbserial.c: Generic converter now attached to ttyUSB1 (or usb/tts/1 for devfs)
usbserial.c: USB Serial Driver core v1.4
usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:03.1-1 address 2
usbserial.c: Generic converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0
usbserial.c: Generic converter now disconnected from ttyUSB1

You can use this way in : Billionton, Wavecom, Vodafone, ZTE, Huawei etc. Telkomsel Flash, IM2 modem include product also can use this way.

2. You need the driver, and software to make your computer connect with the celular devices, and your computer can controll the devices, and take an input from devices. About it, you can follow the advanced articles.

3. You need and User Interfaces to connect the Human to the SMS and Computers.

4. You need the System Analytics to make your sms-gateway will work properly as you need. You can make everything with this software.

The software that can developed by the SMS Gateway:

1. Notifier SMS, you can use it for: Tax reminder, Finance, Insurance

2. Q-SMS to control Queue of human, you can make it to clinics

3. Smart House. You can make SMS from other city to turn on and off your house lamp, TV, and Electronic Equipment

4. Early Warning SMS. It will used by The Reducing disaster risk programs.

The Modems

What modems that we need? You can using the modem list below:

1. Itegno

In my practice, the Itegno Modem so strong to used of SMS Server. Too many SMS Server of the Goverment, Police, and the other instance use this modem. The modem can work properly in Windows Operating System and Linux. To Linux you need instal the LIBMM Library to connecting the modem and operatng System. But Itegno has a minus property: The price is very high if you compare it with the other modems below.

What is drivers?

Simply, drivers can be told as : the file that will make Operating System understand about the devices. So , the driver must contain all information about the devices.

To Windows operating system, if you buy the devices, you will get the CD of the drivers of Windows. To Linux? Really, to use the devices in Linux, some people feel difficult of the drivers. But, don't worry.. Your devices can connect properly in Linux without external programs or drivers. What we can do? We can know about it in the other articles in this blog.

SMS CERDAS in English will be translated to SMARTSMS. Why we choose SMS as the topic and the title?

SMS are Simple Message Service. At least, more people using celullar phone to communication, looking for some info, and at the future will be used to control everything. Can we make it? Yes, it will be run allright with SMART SMS.

In this blog, we can share all about SMS fitures and all around it. You can imagine about some peripheral that can be used to remote all of electronic equipment in your house such as: TV, Radio, Server, outdoor lamp, indoor lamp with SMS. And you can remote it from the other country, or, the other planet.

No.. no.. this trick not by send SMS Someone and ask him to turn on/off the lamp, hahaha, no.. You can do it by the our technology. It's called : SMS for Protocols
